Communicator. Organizer. Planner. Doer. Problem-Solver. Learner. Leader.
Content marketer. SEO content expert. Editor.
And yes, I Have herded cats. Literally.
It’s Wonderful to meet you!
I’m Erika DeVerter: a Nashville-based content marketer, SEO writer, and problem solver.
I’d love to help you humanize your brand, forge lasting connections, and achieve results.
My greatest strengths are communication, storytelling, and empathy. I’m most energized when sinking my teeth into a project — whether for brands or for my own enjoyment.
What’s This About Herding Cats?
Let’s connect and I’ll tell you about my experience of (humanely) trapping 25 feral cats and putting them in my car. (Yes, there’s a spreadsheet. Yes, they all have literary names!)

My Mantra: See Human, Be Human
Before you can convert, you’ve got to connect. Connection goes beyond putting words on page or picking up the phone – it takes understanding, empathy, and authentic engagement. It’s about seeing the humanity in every interaction.
What are your audience's passions, hopes, and dreams?
What keeps your consumer awake at night?
What challenge is your customer facing in the present moment?
Where does YOUR brand, product, or service fit into their story?
Nobody appreciates a hard sell. Genuine connections are built on care, strong listening skills, and the ability to step into your audience's shoes. I specialize in reading between the lines, uncovering consumer needs, and creating a narrative that lands.
Want your message to resonate? Don’t just tell your story, tell theirs. Inspire hope. Motivate. Educate. When you change minds and touch hearts, you get results.
It takes a human touch.
Who i am
A SHAPESHIFTER
I’m adaptable. You can depend on me to read the room and speak the language — whether I’m working as an accounts advisor, talking analytics, diving deep into technical automotive and technology trends, or working shoulder-to-shoulder with CEOs, CMOs, SMEs, designers, doctors, fellow marketers, and developers.
My shapeshifting abilities stretch into the creative realm. There’s nothing I enjoy more than capturing (or cultivating) a brand voice. I’ve done content marketing agency-side for various industries: technology, automotive, quick-serve restaurants, technology, appliances, agency services, healthcare, wellness, pet care, furniture, events, beauty, retail, food and beverage, and insurance. I’ve put myself in the shoes of busy moms with leaky washers, snow-birding empty nesters searching for a couch, fashionistas with overpacked closets, and those who’ve been long awaiting effective healthcare treatment.
A deep understanding of SaaS technology — and marketers as a consumer group — led to leveraging my skills in-house at a B2B SaaS MarTech company where I came to know and love the ins and outs of SaaS as a B2B and product marketer.
A WRITER, Reader, & CommuNicator
Words aren’t just how I’ve paid the bills, they’ve shaped me into who I am. I’m an insatiable reader: books, magazines, cereal boxes, billboards, shampoo bottles, and, yes, the sticker at the bottom of my shoe.
I started “publishing” written works once I had the hand dexterity to chicken scratch with a Crayola and use a stapler. Today my interests lie largely in the business and digital realm: communicating value to clients, compelling ad copy, search-optimized blog articles, anything-but-fluff on-page copy, and heart-worthy social media. I also create white papers, technical documentation, ebooks, case studies, long-form journalistic pieces, pitch decks, infographics, op-eds, press releases, poetry, songs, short stories — you name it.
In short: I enjoy creating and communicating professionally and personally. I often fall asleep phone-in-hand with the Scrivener app open. It’s who I am.
A TEAM PLAYER, Fangirl, & Cheerleader
I put down roots in the work I do and those I do it with. I’m fortunate to work with incredible and brilliant folks and remain a lifelong advocate for former employers, clients, and colleagues.
I’m here to “pass the ball” and be a reliable team player. I show up eager to do my part and to serve as a supportive force. I’m in my element collaborating with fellow creatives, clients, analysts, developers, and executives. No one works alone: I am eternally grateful to the clients, designers, editors, junior writers, analysts, business development representatives, and subject matter experts who make my world go round.
A STRATEGIC PROBLEM SOLVER With her nose in the data
If you dream it we can achieve it. I’m results-oriented, and data-driven. Actionable plans are my bread and butter. Working in Agile environments taught me how to get concepts off the Roadmap, out of the Backlog, and to launch.
As a project or team leader, I create streamlined, scalable processes that foster transparency. The result? Less stress and creative solutions that are on time, impactful, and in scope.
LIFELONG LEARNER
When there’s something I don’t know, I’m eager to learn, translate, and teach. Yep, that includes how an engine works, how to clean fabrics, the latest Google algorithm updates, AI innovations, and SEO news. I refuse to be complacent and seek out opportunities for self-improvement both professionally and personally. (My love language is podcast-, interesting article-, training course-, documentary-, or book recommendations.)
COOL UNDER PRESSURE
Coming up in newsrooms and the technology scene taught me the importance of empathy, adaptation, and staying cool under pressure — and helped me hone my “flexicution” skills.
Things don’t always go to plan. When they don’t, how you show up matters. Quick thinking, leveraging empathy, and remaining solution-oriented helps me ensure optimal outcomes.
